Simin Danishyar, born in 1985 in Kabul, Afghanistan, hails originally from Herat Province. She completed her schooling at Mehri High School in Herat and later pursued studies in English Literature and Humanities at the University of Herat. In 2001, she became engaged to Abdul Moez, and after a long engagement, they were married in 2005.
In 2012, faced with the harsh realities of Afghanistan’s volatile political climate, Simin, her husband, and their young daughter sought refuge in India. They arrived in Delhi with little more than hope, as they had neither friends nor family to lean on for support. Despite these challenges, Simin pursued an MBA in finance focus, in Mysuru, Karnataka. By this time, their family had grown with the birth of a second child. After returning to Delhi, she pursued a second MBA, this time in International Business, at Jamia Millia Islamia University, all while welcoming a third child into the family.
In 2020, Simin founded her company, Hindikart Impex, specializing in importing dried fruits and nuts. Under its brand name, HICO, her business has since flourished, establishing itself in the market. Driven by her passion for entrepreneurship, Simin began her PhD in 2022, focusing on refugee entrepreneurship at OP Jindal Global University in Haryana, India.
In June 2024, Simin and her family emigrated to Canada, where they now reside in British Columbia, beginning the process of rebuilding their lives in a new country.
Simin’s passions extend beyond her business; she sees life as a continuous journey of learning. She is an avid storyteller and writer and has a talent for both cooking and sewing, skills she enjoys honing in her free time.
